Death in our school family: เกิดการเสียชีวิตในโรงเรียนของเรา

On the 19^th of December one of our students in the 12^th grade died suddenly of a heart attack. He was on the way to a competition with some other students and wasn’t feeling good and was told to go lay down in the back of the van and his heart stopped. We had just had his class two days before and he seemed fine. His parents said he had never really been sick and they don’t understand.  We saw his fellow students and they called us over to ask us regular questions and then just said he died. I’ve been at that stage so shocked when you’re not there when it happens and it doesn’t seem real, but it was real he was gone.

We thought we had at least another 6 months with these kids to try to reach them with Christ, but we’re not promised tomorrow as it says. We went to his viewing, and met his mother and father. They were nice and welcoming and we told them we were his teachers, and how we had just told him two weeks before what a good leader of the class he was, and in fact he was our best class leader. They said he was always a good kid; he’d even make them something to eat before they came home from working.

Here they put them in a decorative coffin that is air conditioned so they can have viewing for 3 days. You can look in on the top and view the body. Angel and I were hopeful and prayerfully fasting for a resurrection but none came. But when we had the class again the next week we talked to the kids about having things happen in our lives that we don’t always understand and if they wanted to stay we would pray for them and if they didn’t want to they could leave class early. The whole class stayed and we prayed for them and for the new leader of the class. They don’t have counseling here for these things and crying isn’t something many of them do, but every child we’ve asked about prayer has accepted it so far.

So please pray for these students and the whole school. They are a very close community. And especially pray for his parents and a younger brother who gets compared to him a lot because he’s not “as good”. 

วันที่ 19 ธันวาคม 2555 มีเด็กนักเรียนชายที่เราสอน ม. 6 เสียชีวิตด้วยอาการหัวใจล้มเหลวอย่างกระทันหัน นักเรียนคนนี้เป็นตัวแทนโรงเรียนกำลังจะไปแข่งขันตอบปัญหาที่โรงเรียนอื่นและระหว่างทางรู้สึกเหนื่อยและหายใจไม่ออกและครูก็ให้นอนพักหลังรถโรงเรียน ทันใดนั้นเขาก็รู้สึกอึดอัด หายใจไม่ออก และหัวใจของเขาก็หยุดเต้น  เมื่อ 2 วันก่อนเราเพิ่งสอนห้องนี้และก็ไม่เห็นมีอะไรที่ผิดปกติในเขา พ่อ แม่เขาบอกว่าลูกชายไม่เคยป่วยออดๆแอดๆเลย และเขาไม่เข้าใจ เราเห็นเพื่อนในชั้นเรียนเดียวกับเขาและทักทายปกติ แล้วพวกเขาก็บอกว่าเป็นนักเรียนที่เราสอนซึ่งเสียชีวิตจริงๆ อย่างกระทันหัน ฉันเคยอยู่ในสถานการณ์แบบนี้ มันช๊อคเมื่อเรื่องมันเกิดแต่เราไม่ได้อยู่ในเหตุการณ์และมันเหมือนไม่จริง แต่มันเกิดขึ้นจริงๆ เขาเสียชีวิตจริงๆ

เราคิดว่าอย่างน้อยเรามีเวลา 6 เดือนที่จะพาพวกเขามารู้จักพระคริสต์ ก่อนพวกเขาจะเรียนจบ แต่พรุ่งนี้ไม่มีอะไรแน่นอนเหมือนพระคำได้พูดไว้ เราไปงานศพของนักเรียนที่เสียชีวิตและได้พบพ่อกับแม่เขา พวกเขาดีใจและต้อนรับเราอย่างดี เราบอกว่าเราเป็นครูสอนเขา เมื่อ 2 สัปดาห์ที่ผ่านมาเราเพิ่งชมว่าเขาเป็นหัวหน้าห้องที่ดี และที่จริงเขาเป็นหัวหน้าห้องที่ดีที่สุดในทั้งหมดทุกชั้นที่เราสอน พ่อ แม่เขาบอกว่าลูกของเขาเป็นเด็กดีมาตลอด เขาจะหุงหาอาหารไว้ให้พ่อแม่หลังจากกลับมาจากโรงเรียนเสมอ

ที่นี่เขาเอาศพคนตายใส่ไว้ในโลงศพติดแอร์ที่ตกแต่งอย่างสวยงาม เพื่อจะมีงานศพได้นานถึง 3 วัน เพื่อให้ญาติและเพื่อนๆมาไว้อาลัยและเข้ามาดูหน้าคนตายเป็นครั้งสุดท้าย ฉันและแองเจิ้ลมีความหวัง อดอาหารอธิษฐานอย่างมาก ว่าเขาจะฟื้นขึ้นมาแต่เขาไม่ฟื้น แต่พอเราสอนห้องนี้อีกครั้งสัปดาห์ต่อมาเราได้พูดคุยกับเพื่อนๆของเขาเกี่ยวกับสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้นในชีวิตของเราว่าเราไม่เข้าใจทุกอย่างเสมอไป และถ้าเขาอยากให้เราอธิษฐานเผื่อก็อยู่ต่อ แต่ถ้าไม่อยากหมดชั่วโมงแล้วเขาก็ออกจากห้องไปได้เลย ปรากฏว่าทั้งห้องอยู่ต่อและเราได้อธิษฐานเผื่อพวกเขาและเผื่อหัวหน้าคนใหม่ด้วย ที่นี่ไม่มีการให้คำปรึกษาหรือแสดงความเสียใจ ร้องให้เกี่ยวกับสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้น คนส่วนใหญ่ที่นี่เขาไม่ทำกัน ทุกคนเก็บความรู้สึก แต่เด็กทุกคนที่เราขออธิษฐานให้ทุกคนรับเอาหมด

ขออธิษฐานเผื่อนักเรียนเหล่านี้และทั้งโรงเรียนที่เราสอน พวกเขาเป็นชุมชนที่ค่อนข้างสนิทกันมาก โดยเฉพาะครอบครัวของนักเรียนที่เสียชีวิตและน้องชายของเขาที่ถูกเปรียบเทียบกับพี่ชายเสมอว่า “เขาดีไม่เท่าพี่ชาย”

 

Pattaya Praise: พัทยาสรรเสริญ

If you don’t know and have never been to it, Pattaya Praise is 4 days and nights of prayer and worship. This is its ninth year they’ve had this concert and every year it gets bigger and bigger. It started with Tamar; a local ministry that helps give bar girls a new start on life. They wanted to thank all the people who come to Pattaya to help out in different ministries. This year it was held at city hall and the Bali Hai pier where SCP used to pass out bibles.   It’s turned into something that energizes and encourages all who are involved!  Groups from Ireland, Holland, Korea, the US, and a bunch of locals came this year.

I’ve been to it the past 3 years now and I’m so thankful to God that He let me go this year. It comes at a time in our lives when we are drained and need something to fill us. And He does not disappoint. The first full day we were in Pattaya it was like a family reunion where you like all the family members. J The hugs and smiles cheered me right away. That is one thing I definitely see I miss in the village, hugs! Some of the kids have started to hug us, so I’m looking forward to the increase, but for the most part people don’t hug here. We saw a Thai comedy about aliens and the alien asked how do you humans reenergize and the girl hugged him. I think that is very true, because it helped me a lot.

Angel MC’ed translations between Thai and English, and threw  in some Issan for fun. When she gets on a stage she’s just a natural and it all comes back to her. And as we tell people what we’ve been up to for the past 3 months it reoccurs to us that yes we are doing quite a bit already! God is doing amazing things and though we’re worn out physically after the 4 days; spiritually we are ready to go.

This year they also went into a high school and 2 bars on Walking street (famous for prostitution). The school gives me hope for our school to one day have this kind of concert. The kids at this school were afraid to get up and dance, but we have a good relationship with our kids and they will eventually do what we say. J We already found our major screamers in our youngest class. When we asked if they would scream and dance in a concert they said yes.

And the bars remind me of my first year in Thailand. We prayer walked walking street and it was like satan saying you may do this stuff in these other spots but this is my street. Well God’s taking the bars by force now. Can you imagine Christian music in a prostitution bar? I don’t have to I was there and it was great. Oh and one bar is named Lucifer. J Our God is greater!

What is it about music that brings everyone together? Simply we were made to worship. We might not see you for a Pattaya Praise but let’s all scream and dance when we have the big concert in heaven, OK?

ถ้าคุณไม่เคยได้ยินและไม่เคยมางานพัทยาสรรเสริญ งานพัทยาสรรเสริญเป็นงานคอนเสิร์ตที่จัดขึ้น 4 วัน 4 คืน เพื่อนมัสการ สรรเสริญ อธิษฐานต่อพระเจ้า งานจัดขึ้นทุกๆปี ปีนี้เป็นปีที่เก้าแล้ว ทุกปีงานก็ยิ่งใหญ่ขึ้นเรื่อยๆ จุดเริ่มต้นงานนี้มาจาก ศูนย์ทามาร์พันธกิจท้องถิ่น(พัทยา) ที่ช่วยเหลือผู้หญิงบาร์ให้มีอาชีพใหม่ ทามาร์อยากขอบคุณคนที่มาพัทยา เพื่อช่วยงานพันธกิจต่างๆที่เมืองนี้  ปีนี้งานจัดขึ้นที่ศาลาว่าการเมืองพัทยา  ท่าเรือแหลมบาลีฮาย ที่องค์กรเซ้าเทริ้นครอสเคยแจกพระคัมภีร์  งานนี้ได้กลายเป็นงานพบปะเพื่อนเก่า หนุนน้ำใจ และเพิ่มกำลังให้กับทุกคนที่มาร่วมงาน มีกรุ๊ปมาจากทั่วโลก ไม่ว่าจะเป็นไอส์แลนด์ ฮอลแลนด์ เกาหลี อเมริกา และวงดนตรีจากเมืองพัทยาเองที่มาร่วมงานปีนี้ด้วย

ฉันมีโอกาศมาร่วมงานคอนเสิร์ตนี้ปีที่ 3 แล้ว และฉันขอบคุณพระเจ้ามากที่ได้มาอีกปีนี้ ซึ่งเป็นช่วงเวลาที่เราเหนื่อยล้าหมดแรงที่สุด และต้องการบางอย่างที่มาเติมพลังเรา และพระเจ้าไม่เคยทำให้เราผิดหวัง วันแรกที่เราไปถึงพัทยา เราได้เจอเพื่อนเก่าเหมือนกับได้กลับมาเยี่ยมครอบครัวที่ไม่เจอกันนาน เราได้กอดกัน ยิ้มให้กัน หัวเราะกัน ทำให้ฉันได้กำลังใจขึ้นทันที และนี่คือสิ่งที่ฉันคิดถึงมากและเราไม่มีที่หมู่บ้านคือ การกอด เด็กนักเรียนที่โรงเรียนเริ่มมากอดเรา ฉันคาดหวังจะได้กอดอีก แต่ที่ผ่านมาคนที่หมู่บ้านเขาไม่กอดกัน เราไปดูหนังไทย เป็นเรื่องเกี่ยวกับเอเลี่ยน  เอเลี่ยนถามมนุษย์ว่าพวกมนุษย์เขาเติมพลังกันอย่างไร และเด็กผู้หญิงก็กอดเอเลี่ยน ฉันว่ามันจริงมากๆ เพราะว่ามันช่วยฉันได้มาก

แองเจิ้ลเป็นพิธีกรและผู้แปลภาษา ไทย-อังกฤษ และอังกฤษ-ไทย บางทีก็มีโยนมุกอิสานตลกๆ ให้คนหัวเราะ เวลาที่เธออยู่บนเวทีจับไมค์เธอก็เป็นธรรมชาติวิญญาณพิธีกร-ล่ามเก่าก็สวมเลยลื่นไหลมาก และขณะที่เราแบ่งปันให้คนฟังว่าเกิดอะไรขึ้นกับเราบ้าง 3 เดือนที่ผ่านมา มันทำให้เรารู้ว่าใช่มีบางอย่างเกิดขึ้นแล้ว พระเจ้าทำงานอย่างอัศจรรย์ เราเริ่มหมดแรงกายหลังจาก 4 วันผ่านไป แต่แรงใจเราพร้อมไปต่อ

ปีนี้คอนเสิร์ตมีที่โรงเรียนมัธยม และบาร์ 2 ที่ในถนนวอคกิ้ง (เป็นถนนมีชื่อเสียงเรื่องผับและบาร์) คอนเสิร์ตที่โรงเรียนทำให้เรามีความหวังว่าวันหนึ่งเราอยากมีงานคอนเสิร์ต สรรเสริญที่โรงเรียนของเราบ้าง เด็กๆที่โรงเรียนนี้ไม่กล้าเต้น แต่เราได้สร้างความสัมพันธ์กับนักเรียนของเราและเริ่มสนิทกันและนักเรียนจะทำตามที่เราพูด เราค้นพบนักกรี๊ดมือ   โปรจากชั้นเรียนที่เด็กสุดของเรา เราถามนักเรียนว่าถ้ามีจัดคอนเสิร์ตขึ้นที่โรงเรียนพวกเขาจะกรี๊ดและเต้นไหม เด็กๆตอบว่าแน่นอน!

และคอนเสิร์ตที่บาร์ทำให้ฉันนึกถึงปีแรกที่มาเมืองไทย เราเดินอธิษฐานที่ถนนวอคกิ้งและมันเหมือนกับซาตานพูดว่า พวกเจ้าทำแบบนี้ได้ในจุดอื่นๆแต่นี่เป็นถนนของมัน  แต่ตอนนี้พระเจ้ายึดบาร์ด้วยอิทธิพลของพระองค์ คุณลองคิดดูว่าเพลงคริสเตียนเล่นในบาร์ขายบริการ ฉันอยู่ที่บาร์นั่นและการนมัสการสุดยอดมาก โอ้และบาร์หนึ่งชื่อ ลูซิเฟอร์ พระเจ้าเรายิ่งใหญ่จริงๆ

เพลงแบบไหนหรือที่นำทุกคนมารวมกัน? ซึ่งจริงๆแล้วเราถูกสร้างมาเพื่อนมัสการ เราอาจจะไม่เจอคุณในงานพัทยาสรรเสริญ แต่ให้เรากรี๊ดและเต้นโลดตอนที่เรามีคอนเสิร์ตใหญ่ที่สวรรค์กันเถอะ โอเค๊?
