Angel's Doctor Dreamy

So I recently had to go to the hospital due to what turned out to be a kidney stone. Now family PLEASE don’t worry this turns out good and I’m through it now! But it went something like this:

I had terrible pains (which I’m through now!) but these pains made me think if child birth is worse I’ll adopt. This happened two nights in a row for 5-6 hours and so the second night I couldn't take it anymore by morning and had to go to the hospital. I do not like medicine or hospitals so this was a big decision for me to make, but I didn't want night 3 to come. I was blessed to go to a good hospital in Phukeaw,Chaiyaphum and have a nurse who spoke English and helped me be at ease as she asked to do my blood pressure. Maybe it felt like one of my role plays I wrote for my students to practice? Anyway they took me into the ER and the doctor asked me good questions in English and it helped me even more to know I had a say in my treatment and didn't have to be translated to. So they treated me for a small intestine infection with antibiotics and set a date a month later to have my kidneys checked out. They gave me the pills, including something for pain and I added the order of going to a nearby small city and rent a resort for 3 days to go through this recovery in air conditioning and with a TV. 

After those 3 days I haven’t felt the pain anymore. And a month later I went back to the hospital and had yet another nurse and doctor who spoke good English. I got an ultrasound and my right kidney was swollen due to the stone being blocked in the urethra. They couldn’t do any treatment at this hospital but gave me great advice on where to go and even names of doctors and their phone number if we needed them. So about a week later, last week to be exact, we took Angel’s mom for a scheduled visit to the hospital in Khon Kaen where we meet Angel’s dreamy doctor.

Now he’s not like on the show you’re probably thinking I just wanted to get your attention and tease Angel. He is about 50-60 years old not buff at all but she loved his intellect and calmness. He is the #1 urologist in Thailand and he’s here in my “neck of the woods”. First though I waited in line after line going through the motions like everyone else there until I got to my new nurse friend P Moo. She spoke the best English of all the nurses and joked even and relaxed me even more, because I didn’t know what this procedure would involve to dislodge the stone and would it then start to hurt as it traveled again?

She asked how I said my first name, Yolande, and when I said it Yo lan da she said not de why? I said that is how my mom spelt it and she laughed. So unfortunate news she tells me the doctor is only in on Tuesday and Saturdays, but no worries come this Saturday and I’ll take care of you. J So we sat all day with Angel’s mom and went home. This was a Wednesday. On this last Saturday we went back for my appointment and I went from a que number of 33 to 11. She’ll take care of me. Then I talk with doctor dreamy and he redoes my ultrasound and my kidney was normal. He said I could either get an X-ray there or go back to the other hospital to see if they could detect it anywhere. If I got it there I’d have to reschedule to see the results which confused me? I wasn’t sure if I was misunderstanding him or they just like to take forever until my kidney burst. :-D With all my questions he said if I got it there he’d check it that day after a while. So off we went to X-ray and then waited for him to be available which was right after we came back they just cut us in front again. I hate it for the ones who wait forever but this is how my God takes care of me! No stone could be detected and we were so relieved for the answered prayers. We asked doctor dreamy if we could tape him for our English classes to show a local Issan (Northeastern Thai) professional who spoke Great English. He humbly agreed and we waited this time until he was done. We tape my new nurse friend in the mean time and laughed and joked with her. She happens to be having a conference for nurses soon to help them speak English in their profession and wants us to edit her paper in return for getting to show them to our students. No problem!

So all this kidney scare and pain so that we could make great encouraging contacts, and tape professionals to encourage our kids to believe in their futures. Thank you God

คุณหมอในฝันของแองเจิ้ล…อยากรู้ล่ะซิ!

 เมื่อเร็วๆนี้ฉันต้องเข้าโรงพยาบาลหลังจากตรวจแล้วว่าตัวเองเป็นโรคนิ่วในท่อไต โอ้ เพื่อนๆไม่ต้องเครียด พระเจ้าทำทุกอย่างให้กลับกลายเป็นสิ่งที่ดีมากๆ และตอนนี้ฉันก็ไม่เป็นไรแล้ว ฉันผ่านมาได้โดยพระคุณพระเจ้า
 เรื่องราวของฉันมีอยู่ว่า…..ฉันมีอาการปวดท้องอย่างมาก(ตอนนี้หายแล้ว) การปวดในครั้งนี้ทำให้ฉันนึกถึงว่า ถ้าฉันคลอดลูกคงปวดแย่กว่านี้เพราะฉะนั้นฉันจะหาลูกบุญธรรมมาเลี้ยง อาการปวดนี้เกิดขึ้น 2 คืน คืนละ 5-6 ชั่วโมง คืนที่ 2 ฉันทนไม่ไหว เช้าวันรุ่งขึ้นจึงต้องหามส่งโรงพยาบาล ฉันไม่ชอบการกินยา หรือโรงพยาบาลเลย และนี่เป็นการตัดสินใจครั้งใหญ่มากทีเดียว แต่ก็ไม่อยากปวดอีกในคืนที่ 3  ฉันขอบคุณพระเจ้าที่เจอโรงพยาบาลดีใน อ.ภูเขียว และนางพยาบาลก็พูดภาษาอังกฤษได้ อย่างน้อยก็บอกฉันให้วัดความดันเลือดได้ เหมือนที่ฉันเขียนบทละครให้นักเรียนพิเศษภาษาอังกฤษได้ฝึกอ่าน แล้วพยาบาลก็พาฉันไปที่ห้องฉุกเฉิน และหมอก็ถามฉันเป็นภาษาอังกฤษ  ซึ่งช่วยฉันคลายเครียดได้อย่างมาก ฉันบอกอาการของตัวเองและไม่ต้องมีล่ามแปล หมอวินิจฉัยว่าเป็นลำไส้เล็กอักเสบ ติดเชื้อ และนัดวันมาตรวจไตอีก1 เดือน หมอให้ยาแก้อักเสบ แก้ปวด และฉันขอเพิ่มอีกอย่างคือไปพักฟื้นที่รีสอร์ทในอำเภอใกล้ๆ ประมาณ 3 คืน เป็นที่ซึ่งสะดวกสบายมีแอร์ และมีทีวี ในวันที่ 3 ฉันไม่มีอาการปวดแล้ว แล้วหลังจากนั้นหนึ่งเดือน ฉันไปตามหมอนัด  หมอที่นี่ก็โอเคและพยาบาลก็พูดภาษาอังกฤษได้ ฉันไปตรวจอัลตราซาวด์ ปรากฎว่าไตข้างขวาฉันบวมเพราะว่ามีก้อนนิ่วไปอุดตันท่อไต ที่โรงพยายาบาลนี้ไม่มีเครื่องมือแพทย์ที่ครบครัน เขาจึงแนะนำให้ไปโรงพยาบาลที่มีหมอผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านไตโดยตรงพร้อมกับแนะนำชื่อหมอให้ด้วย หนึ่งสัปดาห์ต่อมา เราพาแม่แองเจิ้ลไปหาหมอตามที่นัดไว้ที่โรงพยาบาลศรีนครินทร์ ขอนแก่น ที่ซึ่งเราได้พบคุณหมอในฝันของแองเจิ้ล

 คุณหมอท่านนี้ไม่ได้เหมือนคุณหมอในละครทีวีซีรีร์ อย่างที่คุณคิดหรอกนะ ฉันแค่อยากให้คุณสนใจและล้อเลียนแองเจิ้ลเท่านั้น คุณหมอท่านนี้อายุประมาณ 50-60 ปี ไม่ใช่หนุ่มหล่อ กล้ามใหญ่เลย แต่แองเจิ้ลหลงใหลในความเฉลียวฉลาดและความนิ่งสุขุมของคุณหมอ คุณหมอเป็นหมอมือหนึ่งของประเทศไทยในด้านผ่าตัดเชียวนะ และเป็นคนอีสานด้วย นี่แหล่ะคุณหมอในฝันของแองเจิ้ล ในตอนแรกฉันที่ฉันต้องตรวจฉันต้องต่อคิวนานมากทำให้คิดไปต่างๆนาๆ ฉันไม่รู้ว่าหมอจะรักษายังไง จะเอานิ่วก้อนนี้ออกได้ไหม แล้วถ้านิ่วมันเคลื่อนที่ไปอีกฉันจะปวดทรมานอีกไหม คิดๆ แล้วก็เครียดๆ จนเจอคุณพยาบาลเพื่อนใหม่ชื่อ พี่หมู พี่หมูพูดภาษาอังกฤษเก่งที่สุดในบรรดาพยาบาลด้วยกัน และมีมุกตลกทำให้ฉันคลายเครียดในอาการที่ฉันเป็น  พยาบาลพี่หมู ถามว่าฉันชื่ออะไร ฉันบอกไปว่าฉันชื่อ โยลานด้า และพอฉันสะกดชื่อ “โย-ลาน-ด้า” พี่หมูถามว่าทำไมไม่อ่านว่า “โย-ลาน-ดี้” เพราะมีตัว de ลงท้าย ฉันบอกว่าก็แม่สะกดให้แบบนี้นิ พี่หมูก็หัวเราะอย่างกับชื่อฉันมันตลกมากมาย แล้วก็เป็นโชคไม่ดีของฉันที่พี่หมูบอกว่าหมอจะมาเฉพาะวันอังคารกับวันเสาร์เท่านั้น ส่วนวันนี้เป็นวันพุธ แต่พี่หมูบอกว่าไม่ต้องกังวลอะไรทั้งนั้นให้มาวันเสาร์นี้เลยนะพี่หมูจะจัดการให้ทุกอย่าง แล้วฉันและแองเจิ้ลก็นั่งรอแม่แองเจิ้ลเข้าพบหมอทั้งวันแล้วก็กลับบ้าน เมื่อถึงวันเสาร์เราไปตามที่พี่หมูนัด เราจับบัตรคิวได้คิวที่ 30 แต่พี่หมู่จัดการให้เหลือแค่คิวที่ 11 ฉันก็เข้าพบคุณหมอในฝัน คุณหมอได้ตรวจอัลตราซาวด์ให้ฉันอีกรอบ ครั้งนี้ไตฉันหายบวมเป็นปกติ หมอบอกว่าเพื่อความชัดเจนต้องไปเอ็กซเรย์อีกครั้งที่โรงพยาบาลนี้ หรือกลับไปเอ๊กซเรย์ที่โรงพยาบาลใกล้บ้านว่ายังมีก้อนนิ่วอยู่ที่ท่อไตไหม ซึ่งถ้าเจอก็ต้องกลับมารักษากับคุณหมอในฝันอีก ฉันละงงกับพวกเขาจริงๆ ตกลงฉันเข้าใจคุณหมอผิดว่าไตหายแล้ว หรือพวกเขาจะรอให้ไตฉันระเบิดก่อน พอฉันถามทุกคำถามที่ฉันสงสัยอย่างชัดเจนแล้วคุณหมอบอกว่าถ้าฉันเอ็กซเรย์ที่นี่เขาจะตรวจให้วันนี้ ถ้าทันเวลา เราจึงไปห้องเอ็กซเรย์และตรวจ เมื่อเสร็จแล้วคุณหมอก็ว่างพอดี พยาบาลก็ลัดคิวให้เราอีก ฉันไม่ชอบเพราะมันไม่ยุติธรรมสำหรับคนอื่นๆที่รอมาทั้งวัน แต่นี่เป็นวิธีที่พระเจ้าดูแลและจัดการให้ เราเข้าตรวจ หมออ่านผลเอ็กซเรย์ว่าก้อนนิ่วหายไปแล้ว คำอธิษฐานของเราถูกปลดปล่อยทันที เราจึงขอสัมภาษณ์คุณหมอในฝันเพื่อเป็นสื่อการสอนสำหรับนักเรียนของเราที่โรงเรียน  คุณหมอผู้เชี่ยวชาญและเป็นเลิศด้านภาษาอังกฤษผู้นี้ใจดีมากและยินดีช่วยเราเพื่อเป็นวิทยาทานให้นักเรียน ซึ่งเราต้องรอจนกว่าคุณหมอจะเสร็จงาน ในขณะที่รอเราสัมภาษณ์คุณหมอเราก็สัมภาษณ์พยาบาลพี่หมูด้วย ทั้งสัมภาษณ์และหัวเราะ เล่นมุกกันไปสนุกมากมาย พี่หมูบอกกับเราว่าเธอกำลังจะมีการฝึกอบรมภาษาอังกฤษให้เพื่อนๆพยาบาลอีกไม่นาน เพื่อให้การต้อนรับผู้ป่วยชาวต่างชาติและเตรียมรับอาเซียนที่จะมาถึง จากนั้นพี่หมูขอความช่วยเหลือจากเราในการเรียบเรียงภาษาแลกกับที่เราขอสัมภาษณ์ ตำนานโรคนิ่วในไตนี้ได้ทิ้งร่องรอยความเจ็บปวดไว้ ก็เพื่อเราจะได้มีเพื่อนใหม่ ได้เครือข่ายใหม่ๆและได้รับการหนุนน้ำใจ ได้บทสัมภาษณ์เพื่อเป็นสื่อการสอนในการกระตุ้นนักเรียนของเราให้เขามีความหวังในอนาคต ขอบพระคุณพระเจ้า เหตุเกิดจากการที่ฉันเข้าโรงพยาบาล
