Let There Be Light ความสว่างจงเกิด!

First Bulb:

We almost barely made it through the first week in the village. We had a lot of spiritual warfare since our first full day of being here on Aug. 7^th. We’re not fighting against family or villagers who think we can’t do this; we’re fighting against spirits who have ruled this village quit easily for generations and don’t like us shedding any light to even one person here. Even though we had our struggles God still used us in Bible studies. Our first day we studied with mom and granny, 70 and 90 years old, about prayer. Granny asked a lot of questions and it cheered us for a moment. Our second study we doubled our class adding a neighbor who was saved 5 years ago and Angel’s oldest sister. We continued prayer talk and showed them how to use the Bible.

Then the rest of our team came and encouraged us and we spent a growling day cutting down overgrowth on our property, namely thorn devils; they fight back. But for four women who aren’t used to doing this and three Thais who are, we did a good job. We had thorns and scratches and ant bites, but we also had great joy at what we were able to do.

Second bulb:

To Laos for a 3 month visa. See I didn’t get a visa before coming, God just didn’t let it work out in America, so I have to get a 3 month one outside of Thailand and then apply for a year visa in Thailand. It felt good to get away, but quickly turned confusing because we didn’t pray first. We weren’t very prepared with what we needed to do this, and if it wasn’t for the grace of God we’d be out of money and no visa. Oh, the peace He gave me when we were applying for it and the light He shed on parts of our lives He wants gone. Hence no easy visa in the US, but hard lessons in Laos.

Third Bulb:

We are back in the village and ready to go to the school to teach English, using parts of the Bible, and get electric out to the farm. Angel and I already had a minnie class last Thursday. They asked the farang (white person) questions. We built relations with teachers and students, both wanting to learn English and both needing to see God. He’s opened them up wide and we’ll get started with them 4 days a week on Monday the 20^th. We have decided to request that the district brings power lines out to our farm for the benefit of all along the way. Angel’s dad tried this before but no one has a house address out there. We will however have a house with an address and a business that brings tourism to the area. A good way to shed light on our project and let there be light for our fellow farmers.

Since God is the source of light and we are the lamps let’s cast out the darkness. I may have their attention with my shinny white skin, like a walking billboard for the project. But when they come closer to read it they’ll see His words shining brighter.

ไฟดวงแรก:

            อาทิตย์แรกเราเกือบจะเอาตัวไม่รอดที่หมู่บ้าน มีสงครามฝ่ายวิญญาณเยอะมากตั้งแต่วันแรกที่เราย้ายเข้ามาวันที่ 7 สิงหาคม เราไม่ได้ต่อสู้กับคนในครอบครัว หรือชาวบ้าน ซึ่งพวกเขาคิดว่าเราอยู่ไม่ได้หรอก แต่เราต่อสู้ฝ่ายวิญญาณซึ่งมีอำนาจเหนือหมู่บ้านมาตั้งแต่สมัยบรรพบุรุษและไม่ชอบที่เรามาส่องความสว่างให้ที่นี่แม้แต่คนเดียว ถึงแม้ว่าเราจะมีอุปสรรคแต่ว่าพระเจ้ายังคงใช้เราในชั้นเรียนพระคัมภีร์ การเรียนครั้งแรกของเรามีนักเรียนรุ่นใหญ่ม๊าก 55+ คือคุณแม่และคุณยายของแองเจิ้ล อายุก็ปาเข้าไป 70  และ 90 ปี ตามลำดับ เราสอนเรื่อง การอธิษฐาน คุณยายมีคำถามเยอะมาก ซึ่งทำให้เรามีกำลังใจขึ้น การเรียนครั้งที่สองมีนักเรียนเพิ่มเท่าตัว คือป้าเพื่อนบ้านที่รับเชื่อเมื่อ 5 ปีที่แล้ว และพี่สาวคนโตของแองเจิ้ล เราเรียนพระคำไปพูด-คุยกันไปและสอนวิธีเปิดพระคัมภีร์

               และทีมงานอีกสองคนมาสมทบซึ่งให้กำลังใจเรามาก เราทำงานอย่างหนักทั้งวันถางป่าในที่ของเรา ซึ่งหนาและรกมากเราเรียก หนามซาตาน คือเวลาเราตัดมันกลับดีดใส่เรา ซาตานจริงๆ แต่สี่สาวทีมเราซึ่งไม่เคยทำงานแบบนี้รวมคนงานสามคนที่ชำนาญงาน แล้วงานออกมาดีมากถือว่าเยี่ยมเลย จบวันอย่างเหน็ดเหนื่อยหนามเกี่ยว ข่วน มดกัดกันเป็นแถบแต่เรากลับมีความสุขที่เราทำได้

ไฟดวงที่สอง:

          เราเดินทางไปทำวีซ่าที่ลาว ซึ่งฉันจะอยู่ที่เมืองไทยได้สามเดือน ฉันไม่มีวีซ่าเข้าเมืองไทยจากอเมริกา ก็เลยต้องขอนอกประเทศไทยและหลังจากนั้นก็สามารถต่อวีซ่าปีได้ ซึ่งที่จริงมันดีสำหรับเราที่จะออกจากหมู่บ้านสักพัก แต่เดินทางถึงชายแดนลาวไม่นานความงง สับสนก็เกิดขึ้นเพราะเราไม่ได้อธิษฐานก่อน และเราไม่ได้เตรียมตัวอย่างรัดกุมว่าเราต้องใช้เอกสารอะไรบ้างเพื่อเดินเรื่องวีซ่า และถ้าไม่ใช่พระคุณพระเจ้าเงินเราก็คงหมดและไม่ได้วีซ่าแน่ๆ โอ้…สันติสุขของพระองค์เข้ามาขณะที่เราเดินเรื่องและแสงสว่างของพระองค์ก็ส่องมาในชีวิตของเราและอยากเปลี่ยนแปลงความไม่รอบคอบของเรา  วีซ่าไม่ได้มาง่ายๆที่อเมริกา แต่เราก็ได้รับบทเรียนที่ลาว

ไฟดวงที่สาม:

เรากลับมาที่ถึงหมู่บ้านแล้ว และพร้อมจะไปสอนภาษาอังกฤษที่โรงเรียน สอนบางส่วนจากพระคัมภีร์ และจะนำไฟเข้าไปในไร่ แองเจิ้ลและฉันได้สอนคลาสเล็กๆ เมื่อวันพฤหัสบดีที่ผ่านมา ให้นักเรียนถามคำถามกับฝรั่ง เราได้สร้างความสัมพันธ์กับครูและนักเรียน พวกเขาอยากเรียนภาษาอังกฤษ และต้องการพระเจ้า พระเจ้าเปิดทางกว้างมากให้เรา เราจะเริ่มสอน สี่วันต่อสัปดาห์ เริ่มจัทนทร์ที่ 20 นี้ เราตัดสินใจจะเดินเรื่องขอการไฟฟ้าเดินสายไฟไปที่ไร่ ซึ่งชาวบ้านที่อยู่ก่อนจะถึงไร่เราก็จะได้ไฟไปด้วย พ่อของแองเจิ้ลเคยดำเนินการแล้วแต่ว่าไม่ได้เพราะว่าไม่มีบ้านเลขที่ เราจะสร้างบ้านและขอบ้านเลขที่ และทำธุรกิจรีสอร์ทซึ่งจะนำนักท่องเที่ยวเข้ามาในหมู่บ้าน และเป็นทางที่เราจะนำแสงสว่างเข้ามาในโครงการเรา และให้ความสว่างเข้าไปถึงชาวไร่ ชาวนา

               เพราะว่าพระเจ้าเป็นแหล่งของความสว่างและเราเป็นโคมไฟให้เรามาไล่ความมืดกัน ฉันอาจจะดึงดูดพวกเขาด้วยสีผิวขาวๆ เหมือนป้ายโฆษณาโครงการแต่เมื่อพวกเขาเข้ามาใกล้ๆแล้วอ่านพวกเขาจะเห็นพระคำของพระเจ้าสว่างไสวกว่า
